Dice of Rolling – PKCGames – Kickstarter

All of the dice lovers should be very excited about this upcoming Kickstarter. Dice of Rolling are a D&D 5th edition optimized set of 29 RPG dice designed by a GM and a Twitch streamer (Jon and Keni Hill) of PKC Games! That’s a lot of dice for a small investment. Have you ever wanted to quickly roll all 8d6 for a Fireball in a single toss?  They’ve got you covered. These dice sets have been tailored to include plenty of the dice that you need for common spells and abilities playing Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition, and each die is color-coded by type to speed up play.

Dice of Rolling are coming to Kickstarter on June 27th. The price for a set will start at $20 w/free shipping and go down from there, depending on how many sets you buy. The price includes a set of 29 color-coded dice and a microfiber dice bag. After the Kickstarter is over, the retail price is planned to start at $25 per set.

There are 5 different pledge levels in the Kickstarter:

  • Supporter – $1 or more
  • 1 set of dice – $20
  • 2 sets of dice – $37
  • 4 sets of dice – $70
  • Retailer 20 sets – $300

The Kickstarter will be live June 27, 9:00 AM Pacific time (Noon Eastern Time!)

Kicktraq

I will add a Kicktraq graphic when the Kickstarter is live so that you will be able to quickly monitor and watch the progress of this Kickstarter. So for now, here’s a picture of the Jon & Keni holding up the dice of rolling microfiber dice bag. 🙂

This looks like a good one to support. With free shipping, I get why they are only offering to the US. Being in Canada, I’ll have to sit this one out for now.

Have a US friend buy it, and ship it to you

      an excellent suggestion!

  • Still not enough d8s for a cone of cold. Though to be fair, that was a lot to ask!

Hey Ben, we designed the set so that if you double it up (combine 2 sets), it will cover everything in the game 🙂

No you didn’t, not by a long way. Most obvious problem only 10d6 – a level 20 rogue sneak attack may well need 11d6 base (so not enough with 1 set), and 22d6 on a crit (not enough with 2 sets), and that doesn’t include any additional magical effects or poisons. And if you like to roll the hit points for monsters, you’re nowhere near close with 2 sets, would need to roll the 4 d12’s 5 times for most adult dragons. That’s just off the top of my head.

Hah, they’re designed to roll spells and abilities, not monster stats. As for the sneak attack, yes, you’d need more for a crit when also using a shortsword. But otherwise 2 sets will be plenty. As for poisons and magical effects, most of those should be rolled separately to differentiate damage types. You could also “break” it by casting certain lower level spells using high level spell slots. I will adjust my phrasing to not say “everything” next time 🙂

I don’t want to poo poo the project, but my understanding is that manufacturing plastic dice has a bunch of gotchas. Are they manufacturing dice, or buying in bulk and assembling?

    • Jonathan Hill

Ben, we are working with an existing dice manufacturer to do these sets.

  • Andrew Loch

I am surprised there are so many D6 to be honest. Good idea though.

  • Pedro Obliziner

    only for the USA, though

Good luck with you project Jon.

Too bad I am far far away.
