Monster’s Den: Chronicles – Online RPG Game

So I play a few games on Kongregate in my spare time when I need to brain dump and refresh. So last night, I noticed a newish game in the rising popularity, that I hadn’t seen before.  It’s called Monster’s Den: Chronicles, and it’s a turned based fantasy strategy game published by Armor Games.  It was developed by Garin, and he is working on the fourth installment Monster’s Den: Godfall as I type. There are two previous versions: 1. Monster’s Den, & 2. Monster’s Den: Book of Dread, that you should check out also.I think that it’s a pretty fun dungeon crawl game with inventory management, upgrades, leveling, party building and lots of little features.

The game has magic, and it made me think about how D&D 5e handles magic differently with prepared spells and spell slots.  But then it handles health/hit points in the same way. But Magic could also be done that way with mana points and they are used up faster with more powerful spells.  I am sure the new Dungeon Master’s Guide will have options to change the magic system in D&D and we don’t have long to wait.  I do like the standard way of using magic with spell slots, but have been thinking of changing things so that new players can understand the magic system more easily.

Anyway, I think it’s a neat free game because it allows you to save and export your save files and then import to other computers.  Using DropBox or Google Drive this can be done fairly easy.  Here are the web links:
