NPC For Hire – Print and Mobile Tools by Knights of Vasteel

There is a new Kickstarter project that I think you will really like from Nathan and Austin of Knights of Vasteel.  The project is called NPC for Hire and uses a 52 card deck of hand draw portraits that you can use in a fantasy RPG game to add life to your non-player characters. These cards are very similar to Paizo’s Face Cards that I have used in the past. But along with the NPC for Hire cards, there is also a companion application that they have developed for iOS and Android.

Bluebeard’s Bride – Horror RPG Kickstarter by Magpie Games

There is a new role-playing game Kickstarter that you will find very interesting. It is Bluebeard’s Bride, and it is a mature feminine horror themed game based on Bluebeard’s fairy tale. There are several stretch goals already met that add a ton to the game that looks to be already full of awesomeness. Here are the details from Bluebeard’s Bride Kickstarter page:

Bluebeard’s Bride is an investigatory horror tabletop roleplaying game for 3-5 players, written and designed by Whitney “Strix” Beltrán, Marissa Kelly, and Sarah Richardson, and based on the Bluebeard fairy tale.

In this game you and your friends explore Bluebeard’s home as the Bride, creating your own beautifully tragic version of the dark fairy tale. Investigate rooms, discover the truth of what happened, experience the nightmarish phantasmagoria of this broken place, and decide whether or not you are a faithful or disloyal bride.

Back the game, download it from our first update, and give it a try!

Bluebeard’s Bride is based on the Powered by the Apocalypse system used in Apocalypse World, Dungeon World, Monsterhearts, Masks, and more. It’s a simple system; when your character takes an action that fits a move, the move tells you what happens, or you roll two six-sided dice to find out. Since this is a horror game, we have modified it so that the majority of moves use no dice; this harkens back to telling ghost stories around the fire.

Upwind Project from Biohazard Games

Imagine Bakshi’s classic animated film Wizards has a head-on collision with Disney’s Treasure Planet and the resulting fire is put out with a whole lot of Studio Ghibli’s Castle in the Sky. That, in an unexpected, animated mash-up, is Upwind.

Upwind is a narrative style RPG set in a strange alternate world of floating island nations, flying sailing ships, long lost technology, wild elemental powers, looming war and forgotten legacies.

Upwind is powered by the Q-system, an original stakes-based, playing card-driven mechanic that gives every encounter consequences with meaningful, narrative-building outcomes. With its unique bidding rules, Upwind plays as fast as you can tell your story.

The Salt in Wounds Setting for 5th Edition and Pathfinder is Live on Kickstarter!

I started writing about the city of Salt in Wounds here on Tribality in early 2015, and now it’s live and funding on Kickstarter! In case you missed it, here’s a taste of what the evil fantasy mega-city fed by a bound Tarrasque is all about:

bazaar-2

Upon approach to the city of Salt in Wounds, the first thing a traveler will note is the sounds of the Tarrasque –the unkillable, mountain sized monster that terrorized the world in the last age- screaming as it is butchered –again- to feed a hungry city. Its roars echo for dozens of leagues, and the ground occasionally trembles as it thrashes against the immoveable harpoons that hold it in place.

Goodman Games’ Mutant Crawl Classics – Kickstarter

This is the last day for everyone to join in and support the new Mutant Crawl Classics by Jim Wampler. The kickstarter has already been funded, and they almost at 1000% of their goal.  There are only hours left, so hurry up and back this great project so that more stretch goals can be crushed! Delivery of the books for backers are planned to start Summer 2017. Here are the details from the kickstarter:

Battlestations: 2nd Edition! Tabletop Starship Simulator – Kickstarter

7th Sea: Second Edition – Kickstarter

“John Wick brings 7th Sea back in a 300-page, full-color, hardbound book. Revised rules, revised Nations, updated for the 21st Century. “

I funded John Wick’s 7th Sea: Second Edition Kickstarter today and I don’t appear to be the only backer. With 33 days to go this update for the popular game has already hit its funding goal of $30,000 blown by 9 stretch goals by closing in on $300K.

Dungeonesque Red Box RPG – D&D 5e Compatible – Indiegogo

Dungeonesque Red Box RPG is being crowd funded on Indiegogo. It is a D&D 5th edition Compatible RPG that is done in Red Box Style. After successfully funding Dungeonesque: World of Redmark (5e Adventures & Maps) on Kickstarter yesterday, Stan Shinn of Rogue Comet has quickly put out a proposed project that takes advantage of Wizard’s of the Coast Open Gaming License for D&D 5th edition. Rogue Comet is looking for support for their Dungeonesque Red Box RPG with a $1,500 funding goal.

The RPG sets out to simplify and streamline D&D 5th edition into a easier to manage booklet manuals for the Players and the DM at a page count of 40 each instead of 300. The project sounds like a wonderful reference tool at the table for players and dungeon masters to use during player, and has the support of Frank Mentzer – the author of the 1983 D&D Basic Red Box.
