Grabbing bombs like alchemical fire or alchemical acid from their belt and throwing it in their face is just the tip of the iceberg.

Abthalom, the Nether Reaches – realm of Takhisis is on Avernus, so let’s put together how it could work.

After the overthrowing of Zariel (pre-5e), Bel tried to forge an allegiance with Takhisis, looking to get some of them sweet abishai. However, Asmodeus didn’t care for Bel’s actions as lord of the first, and freed Zariel from bondage, returning her to her position. Given the way this breaks out, it doesn’t take much squinting to think Takhisis was not interested in supporting Bel, and might have actively contested it. Such actions would have been pleasing to Zariel, who almost certainly repay that sort of behavior with a code of honor, if not loyalty. This could be refined a further level if you have Zariel originally be an angel of Paladine. Taken that way, Zariel would be in a prime minister of Avernus type of position, while Takhisis is worried about being the Queen of Darkness in a prime material world. She doesn’t care about Avernus, as a goddess.

The Cult of Zariel would just be the Order of the Lily within the Knights of Takhisis/Knights of Neraka. I would expect their oaths to Devotion, but Conquest might work with a little bit of work. Zariel would be held up as the paragon of service, strength, and submission.

Thanks for the write up Brandes! September DID feel like really long, but for a numerous of reasons.

So, Tieflings are one of my favorite races in the game and thus the new options could be of great interest to me. Well, I’m not that enthused. What does spark a light of interest is that with these options we might see a shift to Planescape.

I like though what they did with cults. That’s really promising. I’d like to see something similar with religions.
