In reply to Manos Ti.

I mean, the roleplaying that matches up elves with the Order domain is a stretch, but yes, it's nice to see one of the fairly rare situations where Elven Weapon Training pays off. Getting to match up this domain's function with ranged weapons, and thus Dex, is pretty strong - even if it means you're not using your heavy armor proficiency.

In-play, Voice of Authority is a lot like a compulsion directed at your allies. Out-of-play, they do TRY not to set you up to grief your party, other than all of those "all creatures"-targeted spells. =)

Glad you liked the article!

As soon as I saw this posted in FB, people started comments like "Oh, here comes the nut cracker Paladin from 3.x".

Well, it can be that way, but then again I know a LOT of people that effectively (and by effectively mean "fun for everyone") played Pallys in 3.x and I see no reason that this cannot happen in 5e.

Anyhow, I kinda like this one and really helpful breakdown Brandes, as always.

The proficiency in Heavy Armor is spot on, and I see no harm in the Order Cleric not getting any better weapons. We must also remember that some races gain access to extended range of weapons. So a sword wielding Order Cleric? Make her an Elf. Moreso, they grant Divine Strike at 6th level, so this makes up more or less the lack of more specialized weapons.

The spells seem fine, although I'd love to see in the extended spell list more options from spells outside the vanilla Cleric List.

Voice of Authority is nice, and my first read was that it forces your allies make an attack as a reaction. Thankfully, this is not the case, but alternatively you grant the option to do so.

Order's Demand can be really effective in high levels. You can really speed up some low-level encounters, maybe even have some minions! Create Mob, anyone?

I like Expert Divination, so I also like Order's Dominion. Some really nice spells right there, some of them are I believe used by most Clerics?

Divine Strike is a big yes and as I recorded earlier it somewhat replenishes the lack of proficiency in Martial Weapons. And of course it paves the way for Order's Wrath.

Order's Wrath is when you call the wrecking crew to beat that hulking pillar of HP into nothing. It is 17th+ level, so I presume there are more plusses for each character and the more the merrier. Imagine an Order Cleric staying behind and designating targets through bow shots, leaving the rest to her teammates. Oh my.

Me likes the Order Cleric. Nice controller, ideally the leader of the party, which can be a bit baffling during character creation though if you want to invest in Cha and you haven't rolled for stats.

I chuckled at the Dredd reference (first the Oath of Conquest Paladin and now this)...

I have to admit, my first thought about Order’s Demand wasn’t about making folks bow to you but rather to making fighting (or about to fight) folks all tap out and end a battle. Of course, seeing Majere listed as an example deity probably colored my reading of the domain (having played a monk of Majere through a few years of 3.0/3.5 who mainly disarmed and stunned folks while acting to diffuse combat while his Solamnic Knight allies stood in the back as potential Bad Cops).

found 5e vulcan race on D&D wiki but we all know how broken/op most stuff is on there. may test it out if i can find the time. https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Vulcan_(5e_Race).

Breakdown at a glance = walls of text w/ racial abilities having contest based save throws and major drawbacks if target succeeds on them or if used too often (exhaustion and/or long term madness).

1. I agree with this.
2. I have no trouble extending my argument to Life, Nature, Trickery, Forge, and Grave, personally. (It's cool if you don't see it that way, just sayin'.) Potent Spellcasting was especially disappointing before XGTE gave us a cleric attack cantrip other than sacred flame, which... isn't noted for its great damage output.
3. I agree with this.
4. A Chaos or Madness domain would be fine by me, though spinning it as heroic or at all goodly might be a stretch. (I mean, Order is sufficiently authoritarian that I'm uncomfortable with it as is.)
5. Not I.

A few thoughts/questions:

1. I wonder why Order domain doesn't grant proficiency w/ martial weapons alongside heavy armor? Got the image of the statue of the blind lady of justice in my head w/ set of scales in one hand and sword in the other, feels like it wold fit, using a battle or greataxe to be judge and executioner, and was also going to say warhammer for oversized gavel but forgot clerics get that anyway.

2. Order domain is one of the domains where i can see granting both divine strike and potent spellcasting since it grants features that key off hitting things with a stick/chunk of metal and casting spells. other domains i could see doing this are tempest, light, and death.

3. Surprising to me that the channel divinity feature doesn't allow you to inflict fear as well as charm or issue orders besides grovel/bow down to the afflicted creatures

4. Now i want to see a Chaos domain hopefully w/out it copying the wild magic sorcerer even though a divine wild magic table would be interesting. I know mearls said the trickery domain fills in for chaos but i would like to see something touched by a little madness perhaps. Jyggalag and sheogorath from the elder scrolls comes to mind. Jygg was one of the strongest daedra but was cursed by the others to become a being that represents everything he was against and turned into sheogorath except for once per era where the jygg personality comes back.

5. Final thought i swear: Anyone got or know where i can find stats for 5e vulcan race? cause this seems like a fit for them pre warp tech
