It took them a while, but I think that Crawford, Mearls, Perkins et al have finally come to understand that all these people begging them for Spelljammer content are being sincere and not ironic.

You are not the only one!

But what sparks everyone’s imagination is that Skullport is also a Spelljammer port. Actually, this is where I was referring to when I wrote “Undermountain is associated with Waterdeep and Skullport and from there is a world (or worlds) of possibilities that open up” in my comment below.

So, we can only hope for now.

There was a mess at the end of the press release

I thought it was just an email mess-up. Guess I should I thought about it more 🙂

They also have announced that the D&D Open Adventure at Origins this year is called “Gangs of Waterdeep”. Last year the same adventure was the prequel of ToA, so there we go.

I also noted that the press release has numerous references to “the streets of the Forgotten Realms”. That suggests a very urban-focused adventure.

at the end of the press release there is a series of symbols. These are actually morse code for a hashtag that translates: “#NoStoneUnturned”. This, and the fact that Xanathar (as found outside the MM) is depicted in the main image of the release and also the fact that in “Eye of the Beholder”, the CRPG set in Undermountain there is a message in Xanathar’s Outer Sactrum that reads “LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED”.

So, are we to see another return to Undermountain? Possibly so. What is intriguing is that Undermountain is associated with Waterdeep and Skullport and from there is a world (or worlds) of possibilities that open up. And this in turn coincides really nicely with the shared timeline they are after.

I also like Waterdeep a lot as a campaign setting, it just ticks so many boxes for me.

So, come June we’ll see if all of this falls far from the truth.
