“Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, an official free-to-play Dungeons & Dragons-based clicker game. Assemble a party of champions and master the art of Formation Strategy. Upgrade your heroes, collect unique gear, and unlock new Champions in regular new events.”
The gameplay of Idle Champions simply asks you to assemble a party of champions from the Realms and move around their formation to get the highest DPS (damage per second). As you progress you unlock new heroes, get special abilities, and collect epic gear. The progression system is heavily inspired by the class system found in D&D 5th edition.
There are unlockable events going on and you’ll find many of your favorite characters from books, comics, video games and even live play. Heroes include Bruenor, Minsc, Celeste, Jarlaxle and members of Force Grey. You’ll also find Tomb of Annihilation content once you progress though four adventures.
This game, by Codename, has been in early access since the beginning of September, so it is still under development and there are a few kinks to work out. Here is a video showing a little bit of gameplay.
While simple, this game can be a ton of fun and addictive, especially if you enjoy the heroes and locations of the Realms. I wanted to just check it out quick and I blew through a couple of hours before I knew it. I really hope this comes onto mobile too, it would be a solid tablet game and they might be able to fit it on a phone.
If you can spare a few hours and have a Steam account, you should download it for free to check it out.
