Roll20 to offer the Official D&D 5e Monster Manual

I’ve gotten a little sneak peek at the upcoming Roll20 version of the D&D 5E Monster Manual, and it looks gorgeous!

This is very exciting news for users of Roll20 that play D&D 5th edition. The implementation of the 5e SRD, and releases of Wizards of the Coast adventures and books (Lost Mine of Phandelver, Storm King’s Thunder, and Volo’s Guide to Monsters) have given Roll20 users a lot of convenient Dungeon Master tools for running D&D 5E games on Roll20.

Now the entire D&D 5th Edition Monster Manual will be electronically at our fingertips. Just being able to drag and drop from the Monster Manual and create a Monster or NPC instantly is an indispensable tool. An NPC/Monster sheet will instantly have all the stats, and it also comes with circular tokens for use in the game. Just drag & drop, and done. If you’re already purchased Volo’s Guide to Monsters then you have already experienced how good this is going to be.

When monsters are added to your game, they’ll include:

  • Circular tokens, featuring original artwork from Wizards of the Coast
  • Monster descriptions and lore, as well as additional Wizards of the Coast artwork, viewable in the Bio & Info tab.
  • Clickable actions, viewable in the Character Sheet tab (using Roll20’s 5th Edition OGL character sheet)
  • Completely filled out stats, viewable in the Abilities & Attributes tab

You can also browse the site version of the Compendium for new ideas on terrifying monsters to throw at your players! The Roll20 edition of the Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition Monster Manual will expand the D&D 5th Edition Compendium to include all content from within the book. Here is what the Beholder looks like as you go through the Compendium with the Monster Manual added:
