Today we look at two in the Fantasy genre. So no electricity, internet or phones, based in the middle ages where the outside world was scary!
Dungeon World (Sage Kobold Productions)
Blurb – ‘Dungeon World is a world of fantastic adventure. A world of magic, gods and demons, of good and evil, law and chaos. Brave heroes venture into the most dangerous corners of the land in search of gold and glory. As you play your characters they’ll change from their adventures and gain experience while learning about the world, overcoming monsters, and gathering riches. Genre – Fantasy. But you can add horror or sci fi elements to it if you want.
Notes – Dungeon World has easy to use playbooks so you can jump right into play.
The game is a conversation, you discuss what is happening, taking turns to flesh out the story, and make dice rolls to see which direction the story goes.
Dungeon World is a rules light game where you can easily adjust tone to be more dark and horror, or more light and jovial.
The corebook comes with 8 playbooks (classes) and over 100 monsters, but there are additional playbooks and monsters on drivethrurpg.com if you want even more variety.

Conjure Hagalaz

Notes – Your characters can travel to the astral plane and the moons, so right away you can explore fantastic locations as you explore and investigate.
Characters each share the Fate Weave which links your characters past, goals and present situation together.
The game contains maps, spells, creatures, moons, world details, the astral plane, species, the underworld, cheat sheets and everything else you need to run the game. Come for the pogo-sticks, stay for the ectoplasm.
